Michael R. Anderson, M. Photog - PPA
Michael R. Anderson has been involved with photography since childhood when he created his first dark room at the age of 11. His roots go back to Utah where he was born and raised and he has taken thousands of pictures in the five national parks in Utah. He currently lives in Oregon in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Anderson specializes in creating fine art pieces by artistically modifying and enhancing digital photos that he has taken in over 30 countries around the world. His digitally enhanced photographs have received hundreds of local, regional and international awards and some have been published in numerous publications and books, e.g., Professional Photographers Magazine, the PSA Journal, Marathon Press, John B. Wiley & Sons. His art has hung in galleries and art shows in the Pacific NW and he has over five years of art gallery management and curator experience. He strives to craft his digital art pieces to look like paintings. When someone tells him that one of his digital art pieces looks like a painting it is the ultimate compliment form him. He has personal experience with oil painting and he and his wife collect art pieces created by some of the masters. However, his true passion is creating digital fine art pieces which rely upon photographs that he has taken. Mr. Anderson also takes pride in making donations of his fine art pieces to support his favorite charities. In that regard, donations of his fine art have benefited numerous charities with thousands of dollars from charity fund raising events.
Professionally Mr. Anderson has been awarded a Fellow of Photography Degree, (FP) from the Oregon Professional Photographers Association (OPPA) and Master of Photography Degree from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). Several of his fine art photography pieces have been selected for the PPA Loan Collection, the PPA National Collection and one was featured in Professional Photography Magazine. Michael Anderson has over ten years of experience judging photographic competitions in the United States and India. He is also happy to share his knowledge of photography and fine art with others and in that regard Mr. Anderson currently leads two Fine Art Study Groups for the Photographic Society of America (PSA). PSA has also published two of his articles dealing with technical photographic issues, i.e., high dynamic range (HDR) photography. Mr. Anderson has expertise in HDR and Black and White photography.
